The new horror movie, “A Quiet Place,” had a great debut in the theaters, bringing in over $50 million in its opening week and continues to bring in an audience a month after its release.  Unlike other horror movies that are overly predictable and frequently fall flat, “A Quiet Place” leaves you on the edge of your seat from the opening scene to the rolling credits.

In essence, the movie focuses on a family that lives in a city where they are forced to remain in complete silence. If a loud sound is made, within seconds, a disgusting creature will whisk you away. The movie mainly focuses on one family, but also features other characters that impact the family significantly.

While not exactly a silent film, the movie has very minimal dialogue, let alone sound in general. But, the limited dialogue adds a suspense factor and makes the movie more intriguing.  However, it felt as if at least 30 mins of the movie was completely quiet except for the sound of bare feet walking, leaves crunching, and the sound of other natural elements.

As a person who is not really a fan of horror movies, “A Quiet Place” actually surprised me. It definitely wasn’t overly corny like other horror movies tend to be. The movie was a lot more suspenseful than scary, but it was still highly entertaining. The theater was full of screams, jumps, and dialogue from viewers regarding what would happen next.

Towards the end of the movie, it started to get a bit boring, but in no time the action picked up again. Fortunately for fans of the movie, there will definitely be a sequel especially because of how the movie ended.
