The H-F softball team has been working on improving and working to make the season better than last year. Under coach… leadership will this team be able to have a great season and make it to state to win it all?

With the record being 4-4 the team is thriving and trying to overcome their hump of losses. They recently lost to the Lincoln Way West Knights with a score ending at 0-12, Lincoln having 12 points and Homewood-Flossmoor having 0 points scored.

With the team being ranked 165th in the state, a spark is needed to reach new levels and accomplish their goals for the season.

In a brief interview with the coach about the season Coach Corinne Zimmerman said, “Every season comes with its success and challenges. This year’s team has a strong sense of teamwork and camaraderie; all players push and motivate each other to be their best. We emphasize effective communication on and off the field, as we consistently strive for excellence.”

With major expectations for the team to go far in their season, what goals and milestones do the girls have for the team?

After asking the coach about the goals for the season Zimmerman says, “ On the field, we want to have a place at the top of the SWSC conference and win a regional championship. Off the field, we are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive team culture, where every member feels valued and empowered to contribute to the team.”

While every team needs to improve in their game no matter who the team is. So what areas does this team need to improve on to make it to the next level?

While asked about the improvements/ changes that need to be made on the season, Zimmerman says, “While our team has demonstrated remarkable talent and dedication to the game, there are always areas we can strive to improve. We’re working on sharpening our decision-making under pressure, ensuring that we will remain composed and effective in critical moments of the game.”

So who is the team’s number one guy, or the star player? Zimmer says, “Each member brings unique skills and attributes contributing to our success. We recognize standout performances for games by awarding a Viking of the Game. We cannot win softball games with one person. Ultimately, every member’s collective effort and synergy define our team’s strength.”

The team record is currently 4-4 in the season. H-F waits patiently to see what the girls have in store for us and the rest of the season. Will they win the SWSC conference this year and win a regional championship?
