The boys’ tennis team is looking to make a splash this season with a new mindset and a promising varsity lineup. Seniors Nathan Legardy Jr. and Cameron Cage lead this team through the beginning of the season.

“I think just helping my team get to that next level so we can win. Our last season we didn’t have that” says Legardy.

With a theme of a more collaborative effort, they’re ready to put H-F tennis on the map.

The seniors credit some of their team chemistry to their summer camp days.

“Some of them I know from a camp called Wiz Kids that I had in the past, especially Nate, so you’ve been friends for a long time,” says Cage. “It helps because we have a much closer bond than just tennis.” The team has high hopes for the new year and is optimistic about their new roster.

Tennis wants to join the trend of going and winning state championships following the 2023 boys’ track and field, and of course, the 2024 boys basketball team. “There’s a lot of motivation to win state so that’s crowding my mind right now,” says Legardy.

Freshman Jeffery Cade is the underclassman to look out for as the number 2 singles player at H-F. His skill is far above his years and could develop into an even larger threat to the other schools in the next three years.

“He is a phenomenal player. Heavy topspin, knows how to place the ball, good slice and he has a good serve” says Legardy.

With a strong line up and a promising goal, H-F boy’s tennis is ready to dominate this season.
