WIll Bronny James be a star in the NBA

Will Lebron “Bronny” James Jr. be a star in the NBA and live up to the expectations of being the son of superstar Lebron James Sr.? Or will he be a bust and end up out of the NBA in the upcoming years?

Since his birth, there have always been questions about whether James’s sons will grow up to play basketball like their father.

James Sr.’s other son, Bryce James, also plays basketball as a 6 ‘6 shooting guard for Sierra Canyon High School in  California. Starting his junior year, he looks to showcase to the world and prove he is ready for the next level.

James Jr. is the oldest of three kids and has always been around the NBA, whether courtside or in a press conference with his dad.

On June 27, the Los Angeles Lakers selected James Jr. as the 55th overall pick in the second round of the NBA draft. With the world projecting James Jr. to go number one in the draft, seeing him drop to the 55th pick in the second round turned heads, leaving everyone with the question, “Was James Jr. only drafted because of who his dad is?”

James Jr. is a 19-year-old, 6 ‘2 shooting guard, and being small for his position puts him at a disadvantage against other guards in the league. James Jr. played for the USC Trojans for college basketball and averaged 4.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists. While on the defensive end averaging 0.8 steals and 0.2 blocks. Making him the average NBA player, with comparisons to a young Derrick White, who averaged 3.2 points, 0.5 assists and 1.5 rebounds.

For a player to have so much hype around his name, James Jr. hasn’t shown much potential to be a star in the league. But can James Jr. prove the haters wrong?

Junior Caleb Kenyatta says no.

“Not yet, he needs to develop prematurely and as a player, he needs to grow, he was drafted almost last, showing he wasn’t even wanted and every team knew he wasn’t ready,” Kenyatta said. “Maybe in time he’ll be ready but nowhere near ready right now.”

With the regular season starting on Oct. 4, fans and haters worldwide will be tuned in to see James Jr.’s debut.
