The Educators Rising team at H-F hosted an ice cream fundraiser at Rainbow Cone on Oct. 4 and 14 in Flossmoor
Educators Rising is a club for high schoolers who want to work in the educational field. “[The club gives] the opportunity to learn about the various professions, volunteer in the community and hopefully get a job in the area once they finish college,” Sponsor for Educators Rising and English teacher, Tiffany Stewart-Williams stated.
The fundraiser had a 20% discount offer for an ice cream cone that the student had to show the flier to get one.
Educators Rising started this year and is already doing so much for the H-F community. “Our goals with the money raised would be to get club shirts, supplies needed to support an elementary school replacement backpack initiative that we want to start and the ability to give back to the community,” Stewart-Williams said.
Dannen Rose, a junior at H-F and the president of the Educators Rising club, thinks Rainbow Cone was the perfect spot for the fundraiser because “one thing people can agree on is loving ice cream,” Rose said.
Stewart-Williams stated that Rainbow Cone hasn’t told her the profit they made yet. She also stated that she will not be making the fundraiser funds public knowledge until the end of the year when all the fundraisers are finished. The fundraiser on the book is at Aurelio’s on Dec. 12.

Rose mentioned how she loves the club and what it does for students. “It gives me a chance to spend time with teachers and learn the truths of the educator field and if it is for me,” said Rose.
Stewart-Williams has a plan for Voyage to Excellence where they will be giving books out to the families that come. “Our current plans on the horizon now are preparing for Voyage to Excellence where we hope to give out children’s books to the younger siblings who come in with their parents and 8th grade siblings,” said Stewart-Williams.
Voyage to Excellence is when families with their child heading into H-F the following year get to look at clubs they may want to join.
The club has plans to engage with the community on a voyage to excellence.
For more information, Stewart-Williams will be in her room A25 in the south during school hours and club days, as well as the club meeting two times a month after school.
These fundraisers aren’t only hosted by H-F, other schools are hosting similar events for the elementary schools in the area. This nationwide club was organized by Phi Delta Kappa (PDK) International.
