Girls Basketball

This year’s girl’s freshman basketball team has had spectacular success. The team’s record is 17 and 3, and they’re expected to continue their amazing year and finish the year off strong.

The girls have had a big start to the season. With new coaches and new players, they look like a winning team that could make a lot of noise in our conference. Which is great due to the team being a freshman team.

Like all great teams, team chemistry is important for winning games. The girls all know each other and everyone knows how to play with each other.

So what makes a winning team? To make a winning team, you have to have an unselfish team, a disciplined team, a team that is willing to put in the work day after day and night after night.

This team has that in them, and it shows. Concerning the most important reasons for the team’s success, head coach Evan Bercot said, “teamwork, the willingness to work together and play not just with each other but for each other, has been a theme we have preached and, to their credit, the young ladies have done a great job buying into that theme. They also have improved in understanding what it takes to win and doing the things necessary to win on the scoreboard.”

The team has a lot to look forward to as they are currently tied for the best record in the conference. If the girls win their next six games, they will hold the conference title as the best team.

“If they win the last six games they will secure at least a share of being the best team in the conference, which is a big deal to them, and for the future of the program,” Bercot said. “Every coach wants players who know what it takes to win, and this is hopefully a step that will encourage continued growth in the program, and specifically for these young ladies as players and people.”

The girls are currently on an astonishing 10 game win streak and are seeking to continue it. With only four games left, can the girls continue to play how they’ve been and win all four?

Seeing what this team has accomplished this year, the H-F community and the rest of the conference await to see what the girls have to show for the rest of the season.
