Girls' Soccer Team

Girls soccer is officially back. As the spring season kicked off, the H-F girls soccer team started the year 3-12-1.

Last year, H-F’s girls soccer team finished with an 18-6-1 record. They made it all the way to sectionals for the first time in 12 years before losing to Andrew 2-1.

While being ranked 67th in the state last year, the Vikings are now ranked 229th according to MaxPreps.

Head coach Allison Farkos is planning for building around what the team will look like in the next few years. “We are actually in a deep rebuild this year. We lost eleven seniors last year and this year we have five.” Farkos stated.

The Vikings’ most recent match ended in a 6-0 loss against Lockport who are currently 17-4 and ranked 18th in the state

The impact of losing 11 seniors this season is starting to show. That’s enough players to make a starting lineup.

To go from a state title contender to not even being ranked in the top 200 in the state is not a good look for the Vikings.

Despite this, the Vikings are led in scoring by sophomore forward Lilia Abramczyk with two goals so far. She scored in a 2-1 win against Argo and a 3-1 loss against Willows Academy.

The Vikings are currently 1-5 against their division, making them eighth in their conference. This is the lowest they have ranked in their conference since the 2022 season when they ended with a 10-10-1 overall record.
