Can’t Recreate the Greats

This is the original duo that we all came to know and love from Spongebob Squarepants.

Nickelodeon has been my all time favorite channel since I was little. I and many others would wake up to our animated best friends Dora or Spongebob.

Recently there’s been a lot of change when it comes to Nickelodeon and what they air.

This year “fan art” came out of a re-animated Dora. Because of this there was a lot of backlash as people thought Dora looked scary. Some people even said she didn’t look child friendly. The re-animated fan art was so different from the traditional version that people said they didn’t want to remember the original.

Now as the coming out of the new Patrick Star Show surfaces people are in an uproar. Not many people wanted to see this. So many of us are used to seeing Patrick running rampant with Spongebob that to change it now feels wrong.  A lot of people even went as far as to make a post, one saying they rather Nickelodeon continue making Spongebob episodes.

The first ever showing of The Patrick Star Show was on  July 9th. I am not surprised to say that the show didn’t sit too well with a LOT of people. Even the ratings on the Patrick show are low with an overall 4.5 out of 10. Spongebob Squarepants however has a 7.5 out of 10. I would hate to be biased but… people seem to like Spongebob a lot better.

Bishan Senadeeralage reviewed the show and said “ This has to be one of the worst things that Nickelodeon has done to SpongeBob SquarePants. First, it’s Kamp Koral and now it’s this piece of garbage, no one asked for this.” Senadeeralage goes on to say “I bet Nickelodeon waited for Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of SpongeBob to pass away, so they can make these unnecessary spin offs. Also Paul Tibbitt, the man who helped Stephen Hillenburg with Spongebob SquarePants, was not happy with the idea of a spinoff and I don’t blame him.”

I think Senadeeralage and I could both agree that The Patrick Show was unnecessary and probably would’ve been better off as just an idea. Many people say this and it’s not a bad idea so, don’t fix what’s not broken.
