Chicago sports mediocrity

Chicago sports suck. We haven’t seen a really special team since the 2016 Cubs. Ever since then, it’s just been poverty franchises throughout all of Chicago.

So far this year, the Cubs missed the playoffs after having  92% chance of making it, the Bears are 0-4 and coaching looks awful, the Bulls have the same exact roster as last year and missing one of their best players, point guard,  Lonzo Ball, with a knee issue, the Blackhawks have the longest playoff losing streak out of every team in the four major American sports, and the White Sox continue to underperform.

The Cubs over performed this year, but still let down the city of Chicago. They were comfortably sitting in a playoff spot, at one point a 92% to make the playoffs, and played the worst baseball they did the entire season at the absolute worst time to do it. Injuries like second baseman, Nick Madrigal, pitcher, Adbert Alzolay and third basemen, Jeimer Candelario, really hurt the team at the end of the year.

Justin Fields, Bears quarterback, has been underperforming compared to last year. The team looks blind on the field and are dead last in power rankings. The team has an incompetent offensive line and blew a 21-0 point lead last week against the Denver Broncos . Matt Eberflus, head coach, is already having his job threatened if he can’t put anything together. The play calling continues to be terrible, and even if the Bears were the best team in the entire league, with the current coaching, it’s nearly impossible to win.

The Bulls are predicted to be near the bottom of the NBA for the next couple years. The management is not making any changes to the team at all, and it isn’t looking good for the near future. They have some young talent, like point guard, Ayo Dosunmu and power forward, Patrick Williams, but other than that, it is not looking good whatsoever. Small Forward, Demar DeRozan, is 34 and starting the tail end of his successful career. Chicago fans aren’t sure how long he can continue to play at a high level.

The Blackhawks haven’t been a contender since 2015, the last time they won a Stanley Cup. They haven’t won a playoff series since that Stanley Cup run, and are projected to finish last in their division again. They have a little excitement, with star rookie, Connor Bedard. He was the consensus #1 overall pick in the most recent draft, and the Blackhawks were bad enough to get him.

The White Sox have been predicted to make the playoffs with ease the past couple years, and have drastically failed at that. Some analysts even predict that they would win the World Series. They have the talent on the team, with players like CF, Luis Robert, but just can’t seem to get it done on the field. The team just looks blind and doesn’t seem to know how to put their bat on the ball.

Chicago sports have been bad for a good minute, and there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel.

Good article. I personally think Connor Bernard is more than a little exiting. With him the hawks should be at least fun. Hey, they’re 1-0. Justin Fields is the GOaT and you know it. Mitch coulda been but that’s in the past. Cubs, bears, and hawks will all win championships in the next 5 years. Put it on paper! But for now, it’s all bad.
