Play hard for Playoffs

Boys basketball compete tonight

The Vikings are ranked the fifth seed in the Blue Island (Eisenhower) Sectional. They are one of 21 teams battling to be Sectional champions.

The guys will either play the 12th seed, Stagg or the 21st seed, Kennedy, in the first round. The boys have never played Kennedy but have beaten Stagg twice by more than 25 points.

The Vikings have pretty good competition in their Sectional but they are focused on being Conference champions before they get to them.

“We are really just trying to win conference right now and carry that momentum into the post season,” senior Calvin Stringer said.”We are confident if we follow the game plan and execute, we will complete.”

Although the Sectional bracket won’t be easy, the guys have the power of momentum on their side. The

Vikings beat their rivals Bolingbrook last Friday and conquered Sandburg Tuesday for their senior night.

The team is on a 10-game winning streak and their chemistry is at an all time high.

“We started to come together as a team,” senior Destin Barnes said. “Everyone started embracing their roles on the team.”

Every player is a piece to the puzzle of their success and as one they can have all means to get the job done.

“We try extremely hard as coaches to instill the importance of hard work and togetherness into our players,” Coach Marc Condotti said. “These concepts transfer not only to the basketball court, but more importantly into real life habits.”
