You may not know Josiah Nesbitt, but there is a pretty good chance you’ve seen his work throughout this year’s Homewood-Flossmoor Voyager Newspaper!
In the 2024-25 school year, Nesbitt became the main artist for The Voyager, his artworks being featured on center pages along with cartoon drawings requested from writers.
Although now a senior, Nesbitt started admiring art from a young age. “I first began watching anime and cartoons back when I was little. But it wasn’t until I got to fifth grade that I gained an affection for art”, stated Nesbitt.
His affection grew very quickly; the senior even enrolled in an AP-level art class and drew whatever was requested. “ I started trying to figure out what the necessary steps are and that’s part of the reason why I joined journalism and enrolled in AP studio art”, stated Nesbitt
While focusing on anime, Josiah has a very skilled hand, being able to draw a variety of styles from cartoons to haunted castles.
Nesbitt also stated that pressure is his strong suit, why he explored other art styles he stumbled upon photography. I’ve been pushed to work on pictures. I’d never even thought it was doable by me, and this is probably a hot take, but the deadlines made it even better because it gives me a little time to procrastinate”.
Although this artist is graduating soon, his hard work will not be forgotten. Featured below is a piece of Josiah’s hard work
