What started as workout wear has turned into a full-on fashion trend, and students are all for it. It’s not just for yoga anymore. Whether it’s morning classes, lunch periods or after-school hangouts, Alo Yoga and Lululemon have taken over the H-F dress scene.
Viviana Pascarella and Daviýana Cross are both seniors at H-F, and they both flaunt the trend of ALO and Lulumeon. They stated that it’s a mix of comfort and style that makes the look so popular; you can wear it during the first period and still feel ready to go out after school.“It’s comfy, but it still looks put together,” said Pascarella. “You don’t have to try too hard, but it still looks nice.”
You’ll see groups of friends wearing matching black striped Alo sets or Lululemon Align leggings with crossbody bags. It’s not a look at this point; it’s a culture. Pascarella, an Alo fan, loves the trendy influencer-inspired vibe, the clean colors, the cropped tops and the glossy Airlift fabric. Cross, a Lululemon fan, swears by the quality and fit, especially the famous Align Leggings and Scuba Hoodie.
According to clothing construction teacher Alyssa Marassa, these brands are so popular because athletic wear is currently a major trend, and both brands offer high-quality, stylish options that appeal to young people. Social media, she noted, also plays a huge role in creating a strong brand identity and boosting demand.
When asked if the price is justified, Marassa agreed that while the prices are high, the materials are durable and comfortable, making the cost reasonable for what you get. As for how these trends affect student fashion, she mentioned that they encourage students to wear more casual yet fashionable clothing, with name brands serving as a social signal of trend awareness.
From a construction perspective, Marassa pointed out that the high-quality fabrics, meticulous stitching and great fits make the garments not only durable but also give them a more polished, high-end look.
