The NBA trade deadline turned out to be a disaster for the Chicago Bulls.
Before the trade deadline, the Bulls had a 24-27 record and were on a two-game losing streak. After the trade deadline, the Bulls extended their losing streak to 11 games, bringing their record to 24-36.
Following their losing streak, the Bulls won two games and lost two games, stamping their record at 26-38, bringing them 2-13 in their last 15 games.
The Bulls traded two of their three leading scorers in Coby White and Nikola Vucevic. White led the team in scoring, racking up 18.6 points per game. Vucevic was the third leading scorer for the team, recording 16.9 points per game.
The Bulls are now led in scoring by Josh Giddey, who averages 18.1 points per game. Showing his versatility, Giddey also grabs 8.2 rebounds per game and dishes out 8.5 assists per game, tied with the third highest in the league.
Even with a leader in Giddey, the Bulls still find themselves 12th in the Eastern Conference, four games behind the Milwaukee Bucks.
59 games into the season, the Bulls must win 14 of their next 18 games to achieve 40 victories on the season for the first time in three years.
A new addition to the Bulls, Rob Dillingham, has significantly improved since they acquired him. Since joining the Bulls, Dillingham increased his points per game average from 3.5 to 6.5 points, increased his rebounds per game from 1.2 to 3.1, increased his assists per game from 1.7 to 3.2 assists and increased his field goal percentage from 33.6% to 36.9%.
Two more additions to the Bulls, guards Jaden Ivey and Anfernee Simons, both showed their impact on the team right away. After both players saw increases in their points, rebounds and assists per game, they both sustained knee and wrist injuries, respectively, after playing only a combined 10 games.
These are not the only injuries negatively impacting the Bulls, with centers Jalen Smith and Zach Collins also sidelined. Collins suffered a toe sprain that required season-ending surgery, and Smith suffered a calf strain, listed as a day-to-day injury.
These injuries have affected the Bulls’ depth, leaving them 24th in the league in offensive rebounding and 25th in defensive rating.
