Spring Festivities

Warm weather has finally arrived. Goodbye grey skies, and hello summer sun. Spring is here, bringing with it warmer temperatures and lots of blooming nature! There are so many simple ways to get outside and enjoy spring. This year more than ever, outdoor activities are suggested as they are more COVID safe. Here are five COVID friendly activities The Voyager recommends for spring fun.

  1. Have a picnic

One fun thing to do is have a picnic with your friends or family. Picnics are a great option to do no matter the size of your group. Not only are they outdoors, but you also get to eat food while doing it so it’s a win. In the H-F, area there is an abundance of outdoor space to have a picnic.

  1. Go to a sporting event

Another activity to do this spring is attend a sporting event. The H-F summer sports teams are mid season right now and there are games nearly every day. This is a great way to get out of the house and socialize with others. If you aren’t in the mood for an H-F sporting event, you can take a trip to Wrigley Field and watch the Cubs play. This year the Cubs are allowing a limited amount of fans into the ballpark for each home game. A professional sporting event is a great way to reminisce about pre-COVID times and remember how life used to be.

  1. Spring Cleaning

While this may not be the most exciting option for some people, spring yard work is always a fun time! Spring gardening is a fun and exciting activity after the long and cold winter season. It is the perfect season for you to plant and tend to your garden because the sun is out and the earth is fresh. Whether it be mowing the lawn, planting flowers or attacking those pestering weeds, spring clean up is an essential part of every year.

  1. Go on a camping trip

Pack your bags, grab your shoes and set up your tents. Spring is a wonderful season to go camping. It doesn’t matter if you do it in your backyard or you plan to go out of town, as the season lets you be as close to nature. It’s a great time to set up camp, roast marshmallows, talk about camping adventures and watch the stars.

  1. Play golf

If being so outdoorsy is not your thing, golf could be perfect for you! Golf is the perfect combination of competition and relaxation. Playing golf in the spring is perfect, the trees are green, flowers are blooming and the grass is lush once again. This is the perfect activity to spend time with both friends and family.
