With the new season underway, the cheerleaders are sharpening their skills, building team chemistry and setting their sights on a successful season both on and off the mat. Will this be the year for them to give everything and not just win competitions but to win state to.
This year’s team is all hardworking, disciplined and very dedicated, as they all have all but one goal on their minds: to win it all. With the leadership of head coach Zenia Boyd, their excitement and a chance every year for them to win. But what makes this year different?
Boyd stated, “Our group has really learned how to work together. They understand that success comes from consistency, communication and effort, the same lessons we try to teach every day, in and out of practice. We are a very talented and skilled team, and I believe that we can bring home a state championship.”
Last year, the team made some significant noise, but ended up falling short to qualify for state at sectionals. This season, they’re looking to fix the mistakes and work 10 times harder to accomplish their goals this season.
“This year’s team is well grounded and the chemistry is out of this world and it’s making our confidence in each other stronger. To contribute to the team is to use my strength and raw talent for stunting, and I will also contribute my spirit and energy spreading kindness. Giving all I got into the team.” vowed junior Imani Mitchell.
Junior Astaria Jackson shared her plans to help lead the team to state.“My personal goal to contribute to the team is to continue to work on my tumbling skills. This year I look to achieve a consistent whip pass and a running full. These are high tumbling skills that can contribute to winning competitions this season.
With the season on the horizon, the team looks to have a real chance at making a big run in the cheer world. They have the skill, swag and dedication to bring H-F a championship. With the season coming up, they look to show that this year’s journey is about more than just trophies, it’s about growth, resilience and proving that hard work truly pays off beyond the athleticism, the team emphasizes sportsmanship and school pride. These values will make them stand out both on and off the mat.
