Behind the scenes of sculpture and choir students art

Choir teacher Steve Sifner was asked about his experience with teaching choir.

Sifner  was first asked ¨What inspired you to gravitate towards choir¨ Sifner said ¨Growing up I had great teachers. I do choir to pay the debt of what my teachers gave me.¨

Sifner  said that now being a teacher, he loves to see what his students bring/learn. He also said ¨As a teacher, I learn from my students just as much as they learn from me.¨

Choir students of Sifner, Isabelle Nordor and Courtney Moore were interviewed to get a students perspective on being in a choir class. Nordor sings soprano 1 and Moore sings alto 2.

The first question was “What inspired you to join choir?¨they both stated that they have been enjoying singing since childhood. They also both stated that their now high school choir teacher (Sifner) visited their middle school a few years back and both Moore and Nordor knew what they wanted to join when they entered high school.

They were then asked who they look up to as choir students. Nordor stated that she looks up to Sifner. She says that he is a really good role model, helped with her vocal ability, and taught her everything she know

Student of Gregory Petecki, Alessandra Fraga was asked about her process on building on set.¨My thought process behind this was creating memories that play with the theme of the show. We were able to do this by adding pieces of life such as the plant arrangements seen in the picture. Our main goal was to make it look whimsical and also classy at the same time. I feel like it plays really well with the theme of the show.’

In a recent interview, teacher Gregory Petecki of the sculpting class was asked what inspired him to get into/teach sculpting.

Petecki said ¨From an early age, I have always loved building and constructing things. I realized fairly quickly that I had a natural ability to visualize space and imagine how forms could exist and interact within different environments.

Petecki said ¨Sculpture allows me to take an abstract idea and transform it into something real and tangible. There is something incredibly powerful about moving from concept to physical object and shaping materials with your hands to bring an idea to life. That creative process continues to inspire me every day.¨
