Senior Nikolai Lawrence filmed “Behind The Door.”is about A relaxing night in for Jonah turns into a nerve-racking encounter with a mysterious light—one unlike anything he’s seen”
“I wanted to make this film for a couple of reasons. I love horror movies and thrillers, so I knew that I wanted to make something within the genre. I was inspired a lot by [H. P.] Lovecraft, especially his story “Color Out of Space.” Truly, I wanted to make something that was representative of all the things I’ve learned over the past few years as a VTV staffer,”Lawrence said.
Lawrence made a film from the genres he loved, took his experience and applied it to his work, taking from what he learned from past films to his struggles.
“I felt that a lot of my previous films weren’t up to my standards, so when I directed this one, I knew I wanted to make it my best work yet (especially since I’m graduating!) It took me just under two months of planning, shooting and editing to finish it,”Lawrence said.
Lawrence had taken the time and effort to produce a film he wanted to be proud of and learned and improved by sharing it with others.
“At the end, I would say that I was proud of myself, but I knew I could make improvements. I’m not too mad about it, though. If you feel that you’ve made something perfect, then there’s no reason to try and improve, and I know I have lots of room to get better,” Lawrence said.
